Shaq Gives an Assist to the Boys & Girls Clubs
 Retired NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal and his mother, Lucille, are joining forces with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America to launch this year’s “Tools for Back to School” campaign. The former NBA star and his mother took part in a symbolic “Wake Up Call” event in New York City’s Foley Square to kick off this year’s nationwide campaign. The purpose of the annual Tools for Back-to-School campaign is to educate the public about the role community-based Boys & Girls Clubs play in supporting academic success for youth during critical out-of-school hours. The event featured an academic obstacle course, a performance by pop singer Coco Jones, and of course, appearances by the famous mother-son team of Lucille and Shaquille O’Neal, both BGCA alumni.
